URA re-releases RFP for Heppenstall site in Lawrenceville - San Francisco Business Times:

The URA is re-releasing a request for proposals aftedr its previouslychosen developer, Urban Villages working with Boter o Development decided not to go forward with the project. Urban Villagexs and Botero were selected over oneothedr finalist, S&A Homes, in partnershi with the Lawrenceville a community nonprofit. The football field-sized parcel includesw the site on which the officd building for the Heppenstall plant once was located as well as a formedrwarehouse property.
In a prepareed statement, mayor Luke Ravenstahl describedthe property’w redevelopment as an important part of the city’a larger revisioning of the Allegheny “We have begun a planning process to creats a vision for the Allegheny riverfront and reconnecgt our neighborhoods to our naturakl amenities,” he said. "The Hatfield Streety site is one of the great opportunitie s to see this vision cometo life.” The URA wantd a developer “to purchase, design, develop and operatw or resell the site.” The URA’s effor comes as the Regional Industriall Development Corporation (RIDC) continues to redevelop the Heppenstalo complex itself.
Hatfield Streeft is considered a dividing line betweenthe neighborhood’s residentialo community and its industrial zone. As a selling point, the URA notes that the mediahn home price in central Lawrencevill has increased 64 percent in the pastthrese years, a growth rate it claims is secondc highest in the city to the South “We are excited with the real estatr appreciation that were seeing in the neighborhood,” said Rob Executive Director of the URA, as well as a Lawrencevillw resident. “And (we’re) very excited abouy the prospect of a new residential producrt and how that will add fuel tothe market.
