Chrysler, Fiat finalize deal after Supreme Court steps aside - San Antonio Business Journal:

When Chrysler filed for Chapter 11 bankruptc protectionlast month, it spelled out how it would mergse with Fiat and what the new Chrysler companuy would entail. It also said it would reject 789 dealershippagreements nationwide. The move comes a day after the decidedd not to hear a court action from a groupo of pension funds in Indiana that had temporarilty halted the deal onJune 8. The deal comes five days aheaed of a deadline imposed by Fiat to completr the merger and is expected to open the door for more government loans to struggling auto manufacturer Attorneys for the pension funds argued that they would receive just pennies on the dolladr fora $42 million loan given to Chrysler. U.S.
Solicitor General Elena Kagan said the imminent collapsof Chrysler, which already was losinyg upward of $100 million was of greater concerh to government officials than the loan dispute.
