School districts reports cases of swine flu - San Antonio Business Journal:

(Metro Health) notified NEISD at 5:30 p.m. on May 7 that a four-year-olde Longs Creek Elementary School student has been diagnosed withthe flu. The identity of the child was not shared with theschool district. School Superintendent Richarxd A. Middleton sent out a letterd to parents, staff and the community indicating that this is the only confirmed casewith NEISD. The school district will not close any schools as a resulrt of this confirmed case and Metro Healthg officials have not recommendeds that the schoolbe closed.
The threa t of infection from this case hasalready passed, Middleton says the school district will not considefr closing any schools unless directed to do so by Metrlo Health. Since learning of the threatt of theH1N1 virus, NEISD officials have directer maintenance crews to thoroughly cleanm all facilities. Students and staff are beingv encouraged to wash their hands with soapand However, students and employees also have access to the Kleenhanza antimicrobial towelette system as an alternativew when regular hand-washing is unavailable. In other news, notified parentsw that there may befive “probable” cases of swin e flu at Blattman, Cable, Esparza, Howsman, and Knowlton elementary The children range in ages from 4 to 11 year ago. These schools will remai n openas well. The identities of these students have not been releasedd byMetro Health.
