In the future BACVA planx to expand the effort to attracgtdifferent groups, including Hispanic as well as gay, bisexual and transgender people, CEO Tom Noonan said. Noonamn outlined the plans at a press conference that featured impersonatorsz dramatizing the lives ofBillie Holiday, Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman, all born in Baltimore.
A new print ad featuring the wax figure of President Barack Obama at the National Grear Blacks in Wax museum in Baltimore will aid themarketinfg campaign. It will run in two national Heart & Soul and Radio advertisements will airin Va., Philadelphia and D.C. BACVA wants to tout Baltimore’s black venues and attractions, since an estimatedf 21 percent ofthe city’s visitorss are African-American, said Noonan. The Africa n American Travel Conference also plans to hold its conventiob at the convention center inApripl 2012.
