San Jose-based eBay (NASDAQ:EBAY) was sued in five European countries two yearzs ago by over fake perfumes and face creamz sold throughits site. Judge Elisabeth Belfort, ruled that eBay has "fulfillecd its obligations of loyalty to other operatorsz onthe market" through its anticounterfeiting measures. She furthee said that eBay and L'Oreal could do more to work togethef to stem the sale ofbogus goods. While a victorg for eBay, European rulings on the L'Orealp suits haven't been consistent. A Belgiahn court also sided with the company last year but another in Germanyg found in favor of the Frenchjcosmetics giant. Decisions in Spain and the U.K.
have not been handedd down, yet. The latest decision is also contradictory to another from a French court last year that said eBay shoulc pay damages toand .
