The Denver-based firm’s employees were notified late last week in an internalk memo picked upby Abovethelaw.com, a legal industryy website that tracks layoffs. Lisa Simon, the firm’ds chief marketing officer, confirmed the layoffs on The recession has hurt law firms acrosthe country, including many with offices in Roughly 10,000 people have lost legal industry jobs since the beginning of 2008, according to another legal industry website that trackes layoffs. Brownstein Hyatt has more than 200 attorneys in 12 officess across the western United Statexs andin Washington, D.C. Over the past two the firm doubled in size as a result oftwo mergers.
In 2007, Brownstein Hyatt Farber — formed by three University of Coloradlo law school graduates in1968 — merged with Las Vegas-basec Schreck Brignone to form Brownstein Hyat Farber Schreck. In 2008 the firm merged with Hatch & a California law firm know for its work in public agency andwateer law.
